Just recently an exciting new initiative has been created by USA Hockey in an effort to create a goalie culture. For a while now youth hockey goalies have generally been left to their own devices for training. Either you hired a private instructor that worked with your goalie outside of practice or you relied on the pucks being shot at them during practice.

Not often did you find a team that would have a dedicated goalie coach.

USA Hockey recognized the need for proper goaltending training and just announced its new initiative. Based off a Finnish model where goaltending is practically revered, the new ADM program is going to elevate goaltending to a new level.

I had the opportunity to sit down with Larry Gibson, Goaltending Development Coordinator for the state of Arizona to discuss the new initiative and its impact on American born goalies.
